A bang for your buck

We auditioned three sets interconnects with a couple of my audiophile friends. First it was the qed , next was the king cobras and third was the transparent audio. Our system consist of vista i34 tube amp, music hall dac and an MMG Maggie ( Magnepan) and transparent speaker wires. we are also using a flac and wave file from a laptop.1st test was the transparent audio interconnects. The sound is very open and imaging and the depth is deep. A very solid and clear sound but a very expensive set of wires2nd was the kingcobras. The sound is very open also and it's very similar to the transparent interconnects3rd was the qed's.. It sounded flat like there is no character to the music. I was positioned outside the sweet spot and yet I can tell the difference between interconnects.Then we switched back and forth and we can tell the difference between each sets. I'm a true believer that speaker wires and interconnects matters when you're setting up a system. good luck and happy listening

Can you hear the difference?

The answer is yes of course. Unless you have been using cheap audio equipment and somehow got used to listen to all that distortions in the signal and think that's what you are suppose to be listening. Audio cables do make a difference on how good your entire audio system performs and sometimes in a very significant way. I was a non-believer until I actually try it myself. Some people claim that they couldn't hear any difference between a pair of cheap cables and the better ones, that's totally bull crap. It only makes me wonder what kind of sound system they own or maybe they are simply being biased.I have a pair of Kingcobra connected to a HD AM/FM tuner and a pair of $100 speaker cables. They sound much more smoother and focused compare to the original free cables that come with the tuner. I later switch the speaker cables to a pair of Audioquest CV8 (72V DBS) and boy what a huge difference they make! It's almost as if I have upgraded my entire system. Anyway, after the burn-in period is over, the sound stage becomes a little more deeper and extends out farther by about 2 feet from where my left and right speakers are. Vocals and instruments seem to be even more focused and carry more weight (especially in the mid to lower region). But what baffles me the most is that the volume appears to be a little louder after the cable upgrade (probably due to lower noise background.) I could close my eyes and point out exactly where the singer and each piece of instrument is placed as the original recording studio intended. Everything in the music suddenly becomes well, more life like to me. This experience is similar to a person who used to watch standard TV all his life and for the first time being shown a high definition TV. I could tell the difference when I hear music being play back in higher resolution, how about you?

Don't Waste Your Money

I thought it was time I upgraded my interconnects and speaker cables . I had read a lot of good things about Audioquest's King Cobra interconnects so I bought two pair . I collect audio equipment so I have quite a bit of stuff here . Right now I'm going with Revel M20s for speakers and I'm pushing them with a Krell KAV250 amp and an Audible Illusions pre- amp . I have a Cal. Audio Labs Cd player . Considering that's roughly $9,000 worth of equipment I would still be considered to be in the lower tier of the high end audio world .I had been using XLO ( not to be confused with xlr-balanced ) interconnects . They're mid priced cables that cost around $ 79 at the time .Anyway , I hooked my King Cobra's up and low and behold as hard as I tried I heard no difference . To really find out if I had just blown a few hundred dollars I played a specific piece of music . Al Stewart's " The Ear Of The Night " . The song is impeccably recorded ..a great acoustic guitar intro with nice tight bass and some snare drum . I played this song over and over switching from the new to old interconnects . No Difference . Nothing . I did the same with a few tracks from the original cd release of Cat Stevens' Tea For The Tillerman , one of the worst recordings I've ever heard . Both cd's sounded exactly the same with both cables and frankly it wouldn't surprise me if I got the same sound from a pair of $10 Radio Shack inters.Don't buy into the hype . Yea , they look cool , and I can brag about having fairly expensive , well respected cables , but they do nothing as far as improving the sound quality of your stereo system goes .

Not bad, not great either

Bought year end as part of the holiday promo pack with a multimaster (would probably have bought larger if buying not in a package). Works well and haven't had any problems. Added a strap to have somewhere to tie up the cord (nice thick one), but there's really nowhere for it or the hose. Very annoying.Gagged when I saw the cost of the Hepa filter, so bought the Gore Clean Stream Pro that says "Fits RIDGID & CRAFTSMAN red wet/dry vacs", UPC 33132 09093 at HD, along with a 7/16 x 2" hex cap screw at Lowes. Fits perfectly for $30.

Small, Quiet, Powerful

We recently purchased two of these vacuums as presents for our two sons based on over 5 years of experience with our own vacuum. Originally attracted by the low decibel rating (63 dB) and the Fein name, it has lived up to our expectations in every way. Extremely quiet (no shouting or even ear muffs necessary for short use), light weight when empty and relatively easy to carry when full and excellent suction are great features. The ability to plug in a dust-producing piece of equipment (sander, chop-saw, etc.) and have the vacuum go on and off with the equipment is a tremendous time-saver and dust eliminator. With the use of a HEPA filter, this vacuum leaves no dust behind.We thought the Fein HEPA filter a bit pricey so my husband replaced the mounting screw with a longer one that would accommodate the much cheaper Sears HEPA filter.I notice that the latches are now made of plastic instead of the metal clasps on our vacuum. I hope they hold up as well.Very highly recommended. Although Fein makes two larger models that have the auto-start system, they both are louder and heavier - features that are less desirable for a home remodeller. We have basically stopped using our other shop-vacs.

Great small vacuum

I've been using the Fein vac for about two weeks now and I am quite pleased.Design- The unit is nice and compact. The cord wraps around the unit in a groove. A keeper would be nice but I run it through the handle and it stays put OK. The switches have a clear cover to prevent dust intrusion. The hose detaches easily allowing you to carry the unit seperately making it very easy to move up and down stairs, ladders, etc. It comes with a crevice tool, brush head and tool adapter. The silver hose and orange and black color scheme is quite attractive, even my wife likes it. It has five casters which are far less prone to tipping. Cord is very heavy and does not twist easily. (tip: when winding up the cord, hold the cord and spin the unit as a take up reel and the the cord will not twist as you wind).Performance- The suction is very good. It is about as quiet as my Electrolux upright, though considerably noisier with the crevice tool. The paper bag and filter setup maintains suction better than the filter bag that comes with the unit. The filter bag works well but suction drops as fine dust acumulates. However, cleaning and restoring the filter is simple with a light beating with a stick (works best outside, standing upwind :-).Negatives- No onboard tool space or cord keeper although if this were provided it would create grooves and crevices for dirt to build up. So many shop vacs look trashy after the first few uses. This one stays very clean looking.

Fabtech Spare Tire Mount (flat mount in black)

I bought this product to mount the 35" spare tire in the bed of my truck, and to my pleasant surprise it's actually built better (more sturdy) than I thought it would be! I'm going to drill down through my bed, and bolt it to a crossmember, which will be much stronger than mounting it to the sheet metal alone.

Perfect addition to my 4x4

Truck: 2004 F150 6" Fabtech Lift, 35x12.50x20 nitto mudgrappler tires with 20" ProComp Xtreme Wheels.Proper research will indicate that this kit is for a fabtech 6" lift on an f150.I installed this kit in about 30 minutes with minimal effort and tools.I would remove the tires as I attempted with them on and it was more difficult.I can now hit any pothole without the steering wheel being jerked out of my hands.This kit bolted right on and was one of the easiest installs for me to date.I highly reccomend this and all fabtech products.The price is very reasonable as well for a dual shock stabilizer system.If you are running large diameter tires and or wheels this is a must. You will not be dissappointed.

Excellent product - use rubber gloves and a mask.

what a nice product - I wrapped my CAI tube, support bracket and sensor wiring with this. I had enough left over to cut up and wrap ECU wiring and a piggyback box. Nice look - like the inside of the space shuttles. I would advise that you also order at least a small roll of heatshield tape though - there's not enough tape supplied in the box but i was smart enough to get SS ties so it all worked out. Dealing with a 2.0L engine means lots of heat under the bonnet so now that I'm addressing how to lower bay temps I can say that this wrap works amazing. My first test drive me a 5hp improvement by keeping the air uninfluenced by engine heat. I now have more heat shielding material on the way to cover the throttle body now that I've completed a coolant line bypass.The fibers are not good for you and when the material is cut it's tiny metallic like fibers get airborne and seem to just hang around.If you have a CAI get this product, ss lock ties, extra heat shield tape and keep a small garbage bag close enough to discard gloves and mask. DO NOT MESS around cutting this stuff to size without at least a dustmask. You can copy and paste this link for a picture.[...]
