comes with the windage tray built in, alot of the aftermarkets don't have that & you have to go out and spend another 75 bucks to get one that might fit. I would rather have gone with aluminum, but they are not easy to find for a Ford FE engine for an F250, and the price performance ratio is out of whack - for the price, this will do just fine & I can paint it black and be done.

4Works well, don't use the bolts that it ships with.

I just got done putting this in my 2001 Tacoma. The mount itself works very well - the tire is definitely held on tightly, and it's very easy (and advisable) to snake a cable lock around your spare and through the mount to secure your wheel. It doesn't ship with any instructions, though it's very straightforward. 4 bolts to attach it to the bed, and then "sandwich" your tire between the mount and the cover plate. Good design and pretty snazzy looking. Of note - the mount that I received was black, whith is the "BK" at the end of the product description. I didn't see an option to order the blue one, which is a bit cooler looking, but it does the job.One thing of note - it ships with 4 very short 3/4" bolts and no lock washers. Since this is a big, heavy tire in an open truck bed, I VERY strongly recommend that you replace their bolts with some longer ones (especially if you have to drill through a crossmember) and use lock washers instead of the basic flat ones that it ships with. Every extra bit of safety you can add to this is important, and a set of 8 lock washers is a couple of bucks at any hardware store.I've put some pictures of it in my truck in the listing as well.

5easy to install, does the job

We tried several ways to fix the problem we were having with our truck. Now with the fabtech steering stablizer on the truck it runs perfectly with no issues or worries, no more shimmy at higher speeds or over bumps.

5Good Quality - Not for stock height trucks

Wanted to install this stabilizer to correct a wobble I'm starting to get. Amazon "Fit Indicator" says it will fit. Sure it will install but there is no clearance for suspension travel. The Fabtec included directions also say not for stock trucks. Quality of the product is good. Wish I could have used it. Amazon as usual was really good with the return.

4Air Bag Review

I tow a heavy 5th wheel with a 2003 F350 and this kit was able to raise my hitch to level the RV which distributes the load over the RV axles. I have a Reese Signature hitch and I had to remove the side plates on the frame in order to install the air bags which adds a bit to the install time and the side plates reinstalled without any interference to the bolt heads used to attach the air bag brackets since the frame joggles in just enough to clear the bolt heads. An alternative would be to drill a large hole in each side plate to allow the bolt to go through but I think that would have been more work and would weaken the side plates. I wanted to connect both air lines together but the kit did not have a Y fitting so I had to buy one. This allowed me to install a single air valve next to the fuel filler hose inside the fuel access door which allows me to use my small air compressor that plugs into my cigarette lighter. The recommended location in the rear would have been too far away for the power cord on my compressor to reach. If you do this do not cut the air line in half since one side will be a longer run than the other. I ran the long line first and cut it when I knew the needed length which left enough for the shorter run. I run about 50 psi to obtain the desired height. Be aware that 20 psi when unhitched becomes 45 psi when hitched with about 3500 lbs hitch weight.

5Firestone Air Bags on a Chevy 2500HD Duramax

Recently had the Firestone 2250 installed on a Chevy 2010 2500HD Duramax crew cab that is used to pull a Montana Mountaineer fifth wheel. With the new trailer weighing more than the older one we thought we needed some extra lift since the hitch mount weight on this fifth wheel is 2,200 lbs before you add weight to the cargo compartment etc.The Firestone airbags we bought were the manual add air since the automatic air compressor doubled the price. So it is easy to manually add the air and one interesting thing we discovered and discusssed with the factory tech rep was the air pressure. We had put 40 lbs in the bags and then when we dropped the fifth wheel on the hitch we checked the air pressure once again. It was almost 60lbs which would give us 3,000 lbs of lift and looked way to high. The factory tech rep said that the correct way to measure the air is when it is hooked up. So we let some air out until the trailer looked level and the truck springs were carrying some of the weight. Then when we unhooked the trailer we checked the air again so we would know what the air should be when unloaded since that is how we most often would put the air in.Have yet to make a long trip with these bags but that is coming up so I will revisit this review. I will say that the air bags lift easily and it is actually easy to overdo the lift. So far they appear to be a well built product. The only concerns that we have at all is that the left air bag isn't quite as verticle as the right one but the dealer said that was fairly common and the factory tech rep confirmed that. Also the instructions say that the weekly air loss can be as high as 3lbs on a 50lb air pressure which only experience with the product will tell us.We carry a small air compressor with us on our trips so adding air to the truck tires, trailer tires, and the air bags won't be a problem. Normally the air compressor resides in my wood shop and is a small Bostitch finish nailer unit which turns out to work great with tires.I will start out with a five star rating on this product for two reasons: easy to use and the factory tech rep is very accessible.

I own two vehicles which I have installed these same airbags. The connectors for the air lines could be a bit better, but they work awesome. I check the air weekly and add about once a month. I use my trucks as tow trucks and no longer have squatting issues since installing these. Good product ad a good price.

4fairly easy install. works well

I purchased this kit for my 2004 tundra to improve ride when pulling a loaded car trailer. tundras have a great ride when unloaded and a really great ride with a few hundred pounds in the bed. But my personal thought is that they(pre-07 models) are fairly dangerous when towing heavy equipment due to small brakes, soft springs, light weight of the vehicle, narrow stance. Previously, if I had any tongue weight on the truck while driving, any bump would cause the rear end to get sloppy and raise the frontend causing some floating.The install went well. although initial writeups didn't comment on drilling the frame, it wasn't too difficult(just be careful of brake lines and cables). The kit was missing a few nuts so I had to use my own. Good thing I had several spares onhand. Double-check that you have all of the necessary parts before beginning. I routed my fill valves through the licence plate upper bolts in the rear bumper. I had to do some extra drilling in ot hte plastic mount and the brass nut did strip on one side so be careful if you do this. the result of licenceplate mounting is it keeps things clean and easy access to adjust pressure when needed.I've tested the airbag setup twice since install with two different results. The first test up a freeway in to the mountains showed improved control of the trailer(allowing more tongue weight w/out rearend spring sag). The trailer stopped controlling the truck when hitting minor bumps and high speed curves. The 2nd test run was again in the mountains but included extreme winding switchback roads and very uneven paving. The vehicle still caused some tongue bounce in this environment. but the frontend didn't float as before. I may have had too much tongue weight for the amount of air in the bags at the time. It's something that will require some fine tuning of tongue weight vs air bag weight. In both scenarios, city driving was much more controlled than before the air bag install.overall I feel much more control of the vehicle and trailer which results in a much safer towing environment.

5Complete and easy kit

This kit went onto a 2000 Toyota Tundra that is used to haul hay. Installation was a breeze and the holes were easy to locate and drill. Caution is needed on the drivers side when drilling the holes, insert a piece of metal or wood on the inside of the frame to protect the lines there. I didn't like their suggestions for the fill valve locations so I made a separate metal tab near the receiver hitch. The push-to-connect air hose fittings are super easy to work with, very nice touch. I air tested it at 50psi for a week and and it only lost about 5psi and then stabilized, perhaps just cooling of the air.The only issue I can see with this is that it doesn't sit directly under the axle, but forward of the axle on the spring. This puts it a bit in the line of fire if you strap on some V-bar chains in the winter, particularly when the air bladders are inflated. I have not tried mounting chains yet, just be aware if this is an issue for you. It may be possible to just make a sheet metal protector if there is an interference issue.

5Firestone Ride Rite Air Springs work great!

Received the Firestone 2245 Ride-Rite Kit on 7-28-2010. It took 2.5 hours to install and everything went very well. Immediately tested the air springs and they function great. They were installed on a 2003 Toyota Tundra SR5 which was getting a little spongy with any load. The Pickup has a cap and it rides well empty. Moderate loads had been spongy and heavy loads would bottom out. The air springs really tightened it up at 15-20 pounds. Took it for a longer ride today - railroad tracks, bumps and other road irregularities did not shake the truck like it would before. No bottoming out and stability was greatly improved. I also noticed last night that my high beam headlights were no longer too high and they actually lighted up the road in front of me better.
