51/350 Battleship Missouri
By JohnD
This is a very detailed model at a good price. Found the same model in a local hobby shop for almost twice as much. The parts all fit well together and there were no problems with warped or damaged pieces. Instruction manual was also well written and easy to follow. It is slightly more challenging to complete with some very small parts but that adds to the detail. I also used the recommended Tamiya paint and it came out great. NOTE-Be very careful with the machine gun enplacement parts, they are very small and can break if taken out without care. I broke one the first time taking it out but luckily you have a few extra in the kit. Shipping was fast and the seller sent tracking info quickly.

4Typical excellent Tamiya quality
By Plague11
This will be my third Tamiya battleship (already completed the Tirpitz and Yamato) and I'm really looking forward to this one. Sifted through the pieces and is exactly what I've come to expect from Tamiya. The only reason they only get four stars is because they don't come with any photo-etched parts. Throwing in some White Enseign Models or Gold Medal Models PE definitely makes this a 5+. This kit is getting harder and harder to find, so grab it while you can!

5The mighty Mo
By JOT
Having enjoyed assembling ship models since 1953 and seeing much change in the industry in those years, I can only say that This model ship is one of the best created. In recent years 1/350 scale ships have increased in the model market and there are now several excellent ships available by Tamiya and Trumpet among others. The "mighty Mo" is just one of several models produced by this Japanese model maker and even though it was created in the 1970's still is one of the best models in this scale. They also make the Bismark, King George V., and Yamato, and other ships of the same class but different names in this scale 1/350. One note for the model maker, these models are not really for kids under 10 years of age and it is not really a toy but rather a serious model involving much skill and time. However the amount of detail and design will reward the model maker with a excellent example of this class of ship. I might add that with prices being what they are these days, it is still an excellent buy. Remember, I'm coming from a time when model ships were only $2.00 or $3.00 each and well within my weekly allowance budget as a kid then. So if you have an interest in things Naval, this is one way to upscale your collection with a bit of World War II history. Availability and cost will only increase in time.

5Good lens for semi-pro medium resolution
By Anthony Zinnanti
I agonized over several super telephotos before committing to this lens. I am a seasoned photographer and, after two decades of serious amateur photography, I am beginning to sell my work.My previous review of this lens jumped the gun a bit. After having the opportunity to give it a work out, I have to modify the review. If you are using an unforgiving sensor, such as the 5D, this may not be the lens for you. For cropped frame cameras (i.e., 20D) this serves as a useful extension to a medium range telephoto. If you demand 4MP+ tack sharp images, you will find this lens is superfluous in the bag. At best, it's a medium resolution lens that will work well for web imaging and smaller prints. At medium to small resolution, this lens is a great bargain and is highly functional. I found the autofocus to be sufficiently fast and accurate.CAVEAT: To get decent imaging with this lens, you need to know how to shoot super-telephoto. This has to be locked down/stabilized. This lens is no different. Extended beyond 300mm, mirror lock up is likely necessary. The physical feel of this lens reminds me of the old Nikkor 300mm. It's heavy. The lens appears to be well built and rugged. If I was able to, I would tweak my product rating to 3.5 stars. It's a great buy, but definitely not a pro lens.

3It all depends...
By Herbie
1. This lens can be a great lens, or a headache. Somehow, and probably also because of its weight, this lens can not be easily handheld, and can not produce a reasonable sharp image if not on a reasonable high shutterspeed - nothing below 1/250 at all...2. Locked down on a solid tripod (I mean a rock solid tripod, and without any mikey mouse battery grip) it will produce tack sharp images and the most beautiful color ever.3. This is a lens for work in good daylight only because of it's f/4.5 to 5.6 and the fact that you need a higher shutter speed to get sharp pictures. Forget this lens for anything else. Needless to say, that I consider this lens as a dream if used properly. ( For the newcommers..this is a long range lens, flash is not realy relevant).4. Focusing is smooth and sufficiently fast for most types of work. You will get some search when you get close to 400mm especially if you are not in absolute good light. Up to about 360mm no problem at all even without perfect light. This is an autofocus lens - manual focus is obviously possible but not very convenient because the focus ring is not damped at all which makes exact focusing a bit more difficult and takes the extra second.5. The build quality is very good and this lens will hold up to some beatings. Good quality and solid build. With it's range of 135-400mm, it is obviously a heavy lens - what do you expect?Summary: This lens should get two ratings - 2 stars and 5 stars. Used in good light conditions, with adequate shutter speed, or locked down on a solid tripod, this lens will produce amazing quality images - it would deserve 5 stars. Build quality would also deserve 5 stars. Considering especially the inadequate and unrealistic high price, but also the small limitations, this lens deserves two stars only. I therefore mixed my rating and gave three stars. I purchased my lens used (like new) for 400 dollars from a reputable dealer and the lens is definitelly worth the money.I earn my bread with photography and performance counts, high picture quality counts. This lens delivers!Lens diameter: 89mm. Lenght: 183mm (at 135mm setting), and 280mm long at 400mm setting, plus an extra long included hood of an additional 76mm. Filter size is 77mm, not rotating. Weight: 1210 grams. It has a nice smooth black color similar to Nikon or Tokina lenses, and not the usual greyish Sigma color. The tripod collar is a must but easy removable if you handholding your camera.Tips: Don't expect great performance for indoor sport. Use this lens according to it's ability. On a bright sunny day, on the beach, in the snow, good studio light, good daylight anyway - a great performer. Best, locked to a good heavy tripod, mirror locked up, good light, use of a release cable or remote. I use this lens a lot in the studio where light is no problem and I can shoot with a reasonable low shutter speed. This lens performes best between f/8 and f/11 - tack sharp and beautiful color. (I use this lens on a Nikon D200, D300, F90x.)I know... you want to use this lens for wild life photography and need the 400mm...In this case, focusing can be a trauma if the lens is set to full 400mm and you shoot into dark bushes. If you don't have good light, the lens will run back and forth and it takes a while of noisy focusing - your bird will fly away... You just have to stay below 360 or 370mm, or switch to manual focus - you will get used to it. Alternative lenses without these minor problems and the same 400mm focus length will cost you about 4000 dollars or more. Look into your valet and make your decission. It appears like Sigma started to build a great 5000 dollar lens, but then started to cut back to make this lens more affordable. The result is a compromise, giving you a massive focal lenght of 400mm (650mm on a Dx sensor digital camera) without the full prime performance of an expensive pro lens. You need to decide if the small deficiencies outweigh the capabilities of this lens - obviously considering the price. Before I pay 1400 dollars or more, I spend just a couple of hundred dollars more and buy a pro lens f/2.8, 70-200mm and crop when I need to go longer - but again, I don't shoot wildlife.I like this lens because I like good colors and sharpness, and I don't mind the little extra work, tripod etc. to get the high performance out of this lens...

3Bjorn Air/Classic vs. Synergy/Active vs. Comfort vs. Ergo
By tyc
I'm a bit compulsive so we own quite a few carriers. For the purposes of this review, I'll skip slings, and stick to backpack style shoulder strap carriers. Specifically the Bjorn line and the Ergo.Ergo: The most comfortable of the bunch! While it can get a little toasty for both you and baby on warm days, both wife and I felt that we could wear it just about forever. Unlike most backpack carriers, the Ergo has a waist belt on which most of the baby's weight rests. Those of you who've used a hiking backpack know exactly how much this helps. For those who don't, there's a padded band that sits just above your hips. When worn correctly most of the baby's weight is distributed across your hips greatly reducing the stress/load on your shoulders and back. Unfortunately for us, our little monkey recently decided that she must face out, and the Ergo only allows them to face in. So it's been sitting in unused in the closet for several weeks.Bjorn Air/Classic: Smallest, lightest and easiest to use. We have the "Air" model, and the special fabric actually does work to keep you and your baby cool. It's my preferred carrier for quick jaunts and hot days. But the wife and nanny will wear it only if they have to. It is by far the least comfortable carrier we own. The shoulder straps are unpadded and relatively thin so they really dig into your shoulders. I find it merely a bit annoying, but the wife says she can't wear it for more than 5 or 10 minutes before it really starts to hurt.Bjorn Synergy/Active: Basically the Air/Classic but with wider, padded shoulder straps and a lumbar support piece. While a little more comfortable than the Air/Classic, it is still a far cry from the comfort of the Ergo. While the lumbar support is okay, the fundamental problem remains: all the weight is still placed on the shoulders.Bjorn Comfort: The newest Bjorn, and by far the most comfortable. It has very wide and nicely padded straps, and like the Ergo, the Comfort has a padded waist band! While it isn't quite as comfortable as the Ergo, it comes close. I have used it for multi-hour walks with no back or shoulder discomfort. And unlike the Ergo, baby can face in or out.A couple minor complaints. First it is quite bulky. Given the way its constructed, its actually much bulkier than even the Ergo, so it's not the easiest thing to stuff in a bag/under the stroller. Second is that as of yet you cannot buy additional bibs. One bib is included, but given how much we use the thing it's nice to have a second (note the Bjorn bibs currently sold are NOT COMPATIBLE with the Comfort). Plus while it doesn't seem as warm as the Ergo, you and baby will be plenty sweaty on hot days. All these carriers seem very well made, and with the sole exception of the Air, I feel will last a long, long time (while so far so good, I have some reservations about the long run durability of the fabric shoulder straps of the Air). Currently we mostly use the Comfort, but I still bust out the Air on hot days or for short jaunts and all in all we are quite happy with the carrier situation. But we still have hope that one day our little one will deign to face in so we can bust out the Ergo again.---ERGO---Pros: Most comfortableCons: Baby can only face in. A little warm on hot days.---Bjorn Air/Classic---Pros: Easiest to get baby into/out of. Air is fabulous for hot days. Smallest and lightest (great for packing).Cons: Least comfortable. Some concern about durability of Air fabric.---Bjorn Synergy/Active---Pros: More comfortable than Air/ClassicCons: Still no waist strap!---Bjorn Comfort---Pros: Comfort (almost as good as the Ergo)Cons: A little warm on hot days. Can't purchase replacement/extra bibs. Bulkiest of all four carriers.

2Kills your shoulders & back...with ventilation!
By Y. R. Wu
Over the course of three children we have had FIVE carriers: Two slings, a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and the Ergo Baby. The Bjorn is definitely the best looking and easiest to use. The clips and connectors are very intuitive and it's easy to get smaller infants into it.The "Air" version is identical to the "Original" but with much more breathable fabric. Unfortunately this doesn't address the biggest shortcoming of the carrier. My big complaint is that when the kids get larger (or if you wear it for more than ~10 minutes at a time) it really starts to kill your back. This is because the design keeps all the weight on your shoulders. It's like wearing a backpack BACKWARDS!The "Active" and "Synergy" versions have wider straps with a center buckle and a lower strap "lumbar" strap which provides additional support over the "Original" While this distributes the weight better, it doesn't put it on your hips. Oh, and it also makes it a lot more fiddly to put on.If you backpack, you know what I'm talking about. A lightweight pack is fine for lugging 10 lbs of books to class, but if you want to be able to hike for an hour with 25+ lbs you have to shift the weight to your hips.If you only plan to use this when grocery shopping and think you'll give it up when they're 6 months old, this might be for you. If you think you might want to go to the park and hang out, or use it even when the kid starts to crawl, then the Ergo Baby is probably more your speed. My wife can take our 25 lb 1 year old for 20 minute walks around the neighborhood in the Ergo Baby Carrier.p.s. this is coming from a guy who is 6', 180# and fit. My wife is smaller and far more critical of the ergonomics of this carrier. If you've found this review helpful, please let me know!

5A must have for hot, humid Indiana summers
By M. Turner
I purchased the BB Air from another retailer after I realized that our Original BB was way too warm for summertime use. Consequently we now have two BB's, the Original and the Air. This product keeps both the baby and the wearer cool and comfortable. My husband and I have not experienced any back pain while carrying the baby in the BB Air. We use it nearly every day and wear it for extended periods of time. It also fits a variety of heights comfortably, I'm 5'6 and my husband is 6'2. I've had numerous people in malls and busy stores comment on how quiet and content the baby seems in the Air carrier. I appreciate that I can run errands or do housework while keeping the baby close and happy. When Autumn returns, I'll be switching to the Original BB and anticipate enjoying it as much as the BB Air.
