Great Sound

Mounted on a 1999 Subaru Forester (2.5L SOHC). Have it paired with Borla UEL header and Magnaflow cats. Noticed an improvement across the entire power band, but especially low-end (wasn't expecting that.) After installing, I'm led to believe that the old stock muffler must've been severely clogged (Over 200K miles on it) and that's why I noticed such an improvement as I've heard from others that these straight through mufflers usually don't help a lot as far as performance with the N/A boxer engines. I'll cut open the old muffler soon to confirm or deny my suspicion.The sound from this new cat-back system is excellent especially paired with the Borla UEL header. No raspiness, rattling, or any other noises that would be otherwise annoying. It's a little bit louder than I'd like, but nothing I can't live with. Dynamat in the tailgate is the next step and it will probably help a lot as I believe right now it's just a thin sheet of metal and some plastic. Youtube has plenty of videos of this exhaust paired with EL headers, UEL headers, stock headers, catless exhaust, and almost any other combination you can think of if you're looking for an example of what the sound will be like.Other parts used:~1-3/4" 8mm bolts x2 (Supplied bolts are too short and stock bolts are too large in diameter for the new flange)Bosal 256-305 Gasket x1Long rubber exhaust hangers x2 (this exhaust's tip mounts higher than stock, if you have a hitch, you may need longer hangers so it doesn't rub)Hope this review helps others looking at this.

GREAT BUY

i bought this for my 02 Subaru Impreza RS fit great, easy to install, sounds great (not like one of those fart cans :p). the only thing that is "bad" is that the bolts that came with it were not long enough to bolt it on to the cat but other than that very pleased.

Great Exhaust, looks great and sounds right

I purchased and installed this exhaust on my 2004 Silverado Z71 in 2005. It has been on now for 3 years and looks as good now as the day I installed it. The tips are beautiful and I have had people ask me where I got them. They are welded on and not available seperatly (or at least they were not when I asked). Looking under the truck the muffler looks great, no rust. I installed it myself at home. The hardest part was getting the old one off. Installation was very easy and very grstifying. The exhaust has a pleasant note and is aggressive on powered take off but smooth and mellow on the road. Noticeable in a nice way. The tips exit out the sides behind the rear wheels. Looks great but unfortunately they do get dinged up on the front sides from road debris. Even with the factory splash guards. But this is really only noticeable up close. The warranty is out of this world, who can put 1 million miles on a vehicle?. The price has increased substantially since I purchased mine for under $600. with coupon and free shipping in 2005. I really did not see any increase in MPG but at that time I wasn't concerned with that as much as people are now. With this exhaust, a hard tonneau cover, the factory cold air intake, the 5.3L V8 and the Z71 package with the electronic transfer case in 2HI, I get 17 MPG driving easy. Regular driving, you know, hard here and there, soft here and there, in the city I get around 15MPG.

Super Sound, Great construction, and noticeable Preformance increase!

I own a '98 Z/28 LS1 GU5 automatic and I wanted to replace the stock mailslot catback system primarily for sound. Lots of options for this car, however I liked the BORLA straight through muffler design and integrated cutout. It was an easy install once I cut off the stock exhaust. YES, on F cars you need to cut off the stock exhaust unless you want to unbolt and drop the rear. I chose the smaller cutout plate and it still sounds great. I expected some performance gain however I was not prepared for a noticeable gain, which is what I got. Made a seriously fast car faster.

great product

this is a great product. it was easy to install, and works and sounds very well. all the parts were there, it was just thrown in a box with a hat and a sticker. nothing to really protect it from damage with the exception of the exhaust tips. they were wrapped with bubble wrap. and the adjustment plates and hardware were bagged but the pipes and clamps and muffler were not really protected. but it was undamaged. also, it did not come with insturctions on how to install but it was easy to figure out.

It growls and save gas mileage, but installation is not an exact fit

This is a great product, have seen an increase in mileage and alerts my neighbors to my arrival home at night :-). I bought this exhaust system for my 4Runner, at idle it sounds like a normal 4Runner, but once it TACs over 2000 RPMs it growls like a 68 Camaro, very nice sound and vibration. Note, if taking grandma and grandpa out for a ride, just be easy on the gas pedal and they will not notice it too much. However, my complaint on this product is that it does not meet factory specs on installation.The pipe that mates to the catalytic is too large, it measures a male 2.5 inches, where the female part of catalytic flange is 2-1/4 inch, I was able to overcome this with a quick trip to the autoparts store and 7 bucks later I had a solution, but for the price of this kit, we should not need to do this :-(!!Also the same pipe going from the catlytic to the muffler is straight, the original pipe and oem specs. require this pipe to have a slight convexed bend in it, this kit does not take this into consideration, once again I needed to do some modification :-((.Overall, I rated this product 3 stars, I came to this conclusion as 5 stars for the product as its entirety and what it does and 1 star for the installation, it turned a 2 hour job into a 6 hour job with trips to the auto parts store and figuring things out. If you get an exact fit kit for your vehicle consider yourself lucky.

Great! Cat back system from Borla

Installation of this exhaust on my '99 Toyota 4runner was pretty easy. The only hard part is removing the old one.Now here is what I think about this product:Pros:-Awesome sound! No ones gonna think they just heard a 4runner pass them.-An good increase in HP and acceleration.-Better throttle response-Makes vehicle a little more exciting-The exhaust tip looks really good-It's clear fine materials are used to make this systemCons: Not too much to complain about-For price new exhaust flanges should be included. I was lucky the old ones were still good.-No new hanger donuts.-The price might be a little high but you get what you paid for

Borla Stinger Catback Mach 1 Mustang Review

I recently purchased the Borla Stinger Catback, it arrived fast and was packaged well also. Fit is very good, install was pretty straight forward. The only thing I didn't care for is how it connects to the midpipe, its got a six inch section of 2 1/4" dia. adapter pipe thats similar to a header collector reducer that the main catback slides onto and clamps to instead of being solid all the way forward. They were buried in the foam packing material and hard to find initially. Other than that it looks great, I love the big rolled tips and the sound is fantastic, there maybe some hp gains too. It gets loud inside the car on the hwy. at 80 mph though, forget about talking on cell phone in that situation.

Borla Stinger cat back exhaust system

Got this from amazon about a week ago for $427. Was on sale for 35 % off. I've wanted this set up for my 2001 GT convertible for since the system came out. I installed it in about 30 minutes with the help of another friend and all the right tools.Very easy and straight forward installation. I know I got a great deal from amazon and I am certainly glad I finally got around to doing it. Wow. What a difference this bolt on setup made. The tone is perfect. Inside and out. I let one of my friends drive it so I could hear it passing by. Damn! I've had a few offers to buy my mustang from some of my coworkers since I installed this. All I had to say was Sure Pal. Anyways if your considering this don't put it off for the last nine years like I did. Get it while you can. You will not be disappointed.

I have owned Sports cars all my life and have tried many exhaust systems, but found years ago you just can't beat Borla Exhaust systems for the ease of installation, true to fit, look, and most of all the tone. If you are an old "Gear Head" such as myself, you will not find better for street performance....
