ARP 2084301 Head Stud Kit Product Description:

  • D16Z6
  • Honda Civic

Product Description

(D16Z6) Built for the Honda Civic... Obtaining the optimum cylinder head-to-block sealing is especially critical in small displacement engines employing high compression pistons or power adders like turbochargers, nitrous oxide and superchargers. That's why ARP head studs are popular among leading Sport Compact/Import racers. You should know that ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Then, each stud is precisely heat-treated to 200,000 psi. Following heattreat, each stud is centerless ground to make it as close to perfectly concentric as possible. This procedure involves about ten very slight cuts and results in an exceptionally straight part. It's important to note that lesser quality studs are not even centerless ground the material is thread rolled in bar stock form (mostly before heat-treat, when the material is easier to machine). Because ARP studs are manufactured to such exacting tolerances, you will note that gaskets and cylinder heads literally glide into position and are perfectly aligned something that won't happen with inferior quality head studs.ARP studs are thread rolled after heat-treat, which gives them about 1000% (that's ten times) better fatigue strength than those studs that are threaded prior to heat-treat.You will also note that ARP offers specially undercut studs for several engines. This procedure (done only to the shorter studs) more equalizes the "stretch" of both studs, which makes for a more consistent clamping force one that compensates for head gasket compression when the head is installed. This helps prevent blown head gaskets, and assures optimum sealing!

5Great Head Stud Kit
By Sbrmonkey
TSB suggestion for my engine was to use a metal head gasket and not the original graphite due to gasket leak failures but once you use the metal head gasket, you couldn't use the original head bolts. Rather than buying the OEM, I opted for Head Studs since they provide a better seal. Works perfect on the D16A6.

ARP 2034203 Pro Series Cylinder Head Studs, With 12-Point Style Nuts, For Select Toyota Applications Product Description:

  • The choice of many top professional engine builders for their all-out competition powerplants
  • Manufactured from a premium grade 8740 alloy that is heat-treated to 200,000 psi, which is considerably stronger than Grade 8 hardware
  • Kit comes complete with premium quality parallel ground washers and compact 12-point style nuts
  • 1000% better fatigue strength than many other studs
  • Centerless ground to be as perfectly concentric as possible

Product Description

ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy, which is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality, for their Pro Series cylinder head studs. Each stud is placed vertically in special racks and precisely heat-treated to 200,000 psi to ensure complete heat penetration. Then the studs are centerless ground to make them as close to perfectly concentric as possible, unlike lesser quality studs. Because ARP studs are manufactured to such exacting tolerances, you will note that gaskets and cylinder heads literally glide into position and are perfectly aligned -- something that won't happen with inferior quality head studs. By being thread rolled after heat-treat, these studs have about 1000% (that's ten times) better fatigue strength than those studs that are threaded prior to heat-treat (a very common industry practice). It costs a lot more to do it this way, because it's tough on tooling, but the results are well worth the extra effort. This cylinder head stud kit comes complete with premium quality parallel ground washers and compact 12-point style nuts for select Toyota applications (4AG, 16 valve).

5ARP 4AGE Head Studs
By root
What's more to say than they're ARP, they fit, they work, they're strong. With OEM 16V 4AGE setup, you do need to make a mod for stock distributor clearance. Either grind the stud, or grind the dizzy shaft, your choice. I personally grind the dizzy.

5Buddy....can you give me a lift?
By Michael Ohlstein
I installed these on a diesel powered Ford E350 Van that has been converted to 4X4 and is occasionally used for plowing snow. It's just what the doctor ordered for carrying that extra 700 lbs. out in front of the truck.Easy to install....if you know the trick. Use a vise to get the air out of them before you start....

5Air Lift 60797 Rear Air Spring Kit a Success
By Nathan H. Meek
This kit was relative easy to install on my 2001 Pontiac Trans Am with WS6. The most difficult part was locating the Schrader valve that would be inconspicuous, yet accessable, and routing the air lines to it. That was not a kit issue but a "user preference" planning challenge. I ended up placing the Schrader valve inside the L/wheel well where it should be okay without a problem with road spray/grime, as the cap protects the valve and I keep that area fairly clean anyway.Functionally, the kit works exactly as planned, as I have pulled my loaded motorcycle trailer with it on (2) separate 1500 mile trips with exceptional towing performance. In fact, set on 25psi, the car/trailer combo was was much more stable and the suspension was more responsive than the car normally is by itself without the air lift kit. In normal use pulling the trailer, 15psi was quite acceptable and probably optimum for my combination.I was very pleased.

4Worked great..install not so great.
By Patrick Barrett
This same set fits an Isuzu Rodeo, which is what I installed them on. The install procedure is very straight forward, if you follow the instructions. The only real problem was with the mini clamps for the hose fittings. The clamps are a cheap squeeze type clamp that requires you to "try" and slid them over the hose fittings, without the ability to actually see what you are doing. Trying to fit a pair of pliers between the coils on the springs is just about impossible. Getting everything installed took only a few minutes, but getting the clamps positioned correctly took almost an hour. Air Lift should attach the hose to the air bag and then provide you with the hardware to couple the air lines outside of the spring. On the bright side, the air bags worked just as planned. I can now tow my boat without bottoming out the springs and shocks. Yes the ride is a little stiffer, but the results are well worth it.

5I advise these air springs
By Milan Cerny
I have it installed on my 2004 Opel Frontera 3.2 (european mark of the Isuzu Rodeo) with two LPG tanks (115 lt. amount of liquid gas summary and permanently ca. 100 kg weight more after rear axle). The time of my amateur Installation has ca. 3 hours complete incl. pipes wiring. After 4 months and ca. 10.000 km in winter on the roads and off roads too not any problem, vehicle sits now better.Good luck!

5A must for LOWERED SUV'S that tow

I lowered my custom 2004 Yukon and I was able to still tow my race car with these helper bags. About an hour install and good to go!

5Works great but not as easy to install!
By workenbrian
I gave this a 4 star due to the amount of labor to install. It works great, lifts my minivan right up and keeps it nice and stable when hauling a trailer. However, I will still need a stabilizer bar to reduce sway.Installation was not as easy as I had thought but that was based on some Youtube videos I had found saying each bladder could be inserted through the spring gaps. The instructions that came in the package had me lowering the rear axle, removing the springs and drilling 3/4" holes through the bottom plate under the springs. This allows for the air lines to be ran without worrying about them getting pinched in the springs. I did not have a 3/4" drill bit, the largest metal bit I own is a 1/2" so I used that. It seems to be working fine.I've had them installed for about 2 months now and I've used them several times. Whether its towing my pop up camper or hauling 8 people in my minivan, it has worked above and beyond my expectations.

5Excellent!
By Richard B. Old
This air bag system is well made and the install was easy as descibed in instructions! I had to enlarge the hole on the coil spring bracket on the bottom for the hose to move freely. This was installed on my 1985 El Camino replacing worthless air bags that leaked! I opted to run two seperate lines one to each bag for better control and keeping the rear level to the eye. I drilled an extra hole across from the existing hole for the air shocks and added 2 chrome valve cover caps for a nice clean look! Bags have maintained there pressure since install 3+ mo's. ago... but I still check at least once a month! Would definitely recommend to anyone! Very pleased with product and results! :)

5Air lift rear "Drag Bags"
By Whisper
I put these on the rear of my 69 El Camino which I only use for hauling and towing. If you remember these are designed to be used for weight transfer when launching your ride at the dragstrip then your expectations will be met. They have a max air pressure rating of 40lbs but that in conjunction with my coil over shocks has been more than adequate for my use. I have used several Air Lift products over the years and have never been dissapointed.

5Excellent product
By Iain Cameron
I am towing with a Toyota Sienna van and purchased these to help with ride control.Installation was straight forward - be sure and follow the printed instructions. I initially tried to install the bags without jacking up the car and this was quite difficult.. Removing the rear wheels will make it much simpler / quicker to get at the coil springs and secure the air lines.I also positioned the air bags with the nipples at the top - works fine and isolates the air lines from movement of the suspension. I ran the air line into the rear of the van by puncturing one of the rubber grommets on the underside of the floor pan and slipped it up into the area where the emergency jack sits. Works great!

5I needed a lift!
By C. Glahn
I have a 2005 Toyota Sienna and several children. I have, at times, taken a load of Boy-scouts and equipment in the car for a campout. For big loads I attach a "Dual-Port" mounted cargo box that hangs aft of the rear bumper. It holds a lot but drops the rear too much and I get cars flashing me wiht their bright lights. The parts arrived sooner than I expected and the contents looked just like the add showed. I had little trouble installing the bags, although they are rather stiff and require some strength to push through the spring coils. Unlike the instructions, I chose to route the air line out the hole in the top of the spring perch rather than the bottom which bounces along with the wheels. They work great, levelling the car as needed in a few seconds. It is also a little stiffer and much less sensitive to the added load and bumps. It rarely scrape the hitch now.

5Works well
By P. Carpenter
I have a 2007 Toyota Sienna and added a hitch for carrying bikes. When I pull out of the driveway or if the van was loaded with people, the hitch would occasionally bump the ground. I installed this system and the problem went away. I installed the system per instructions with the hose coming out the bottom and installation took a little over an hour with minimal tools (pliers, knife, drill, and 5/16 drill bit for the valve stem). I would have liked to route the air hose on top of the coil as the other reviewer but it was too much trouble getting the hose locked onto the stem.I am currently testing the system with 30 pounds of air on an empty van. The van rides only slightly higher in the back (not visibly noticeable) and I can not tell any performance changes on twisty or bumpy roads which is ok by me. When I hooked up a utility trailer with about 200+ pound tongue weight, the van did not show any signs of sagging. Even with 3 adults, two kids, and lots of luggage, the van was fine with no bottoming out. I highly recommend this system for anyone with a rear coil suspension system.
