Goldilocks exhaust

The exhaust has the exact note I was looking for. A nice rumble at and off idle, but not too loud, even under a lot of throttle. Loud enough to make me smile, but not so loud my wife is embarrassed to take it to the grocery store. If glasspacks were a "10", and stock was a "1", I would rate this at a "3". It is barely noticeable in the cabin, and does not drone or make any weird noises. I have an '01 2500 Suburban with the 8.1L.As usual, Amazon had the best price and got it to me in just a couple days.Installation was kind of a pain, and is why I gave the product 4 stars. You have to weld one pipe, which the instructions tell you to do after everything is on, but there is NO room to get around it. I tried a clamp, but there was too much of a gap to close. Even if I had a lift, it still would have been nearly impossible. If I was to do it again, I would have figured out where the muffler needed to wind up, mark the muffler and head pipe, and then take the catalytic converter and muffler off and weld it up on the bench. I was also a little disappointed that all of the hardware appears to be galvanized rather than stainless. The build quality of the pipes and muffler is second to none, however.

Bought this cat-back exhaust for my truck and mannn did it make a difference! Gave my truck that sexy low rumble ive always wanted. The biggest surprise for me was the huge boost in HP. when i took it to the road for the first time i hit the gas and my eyes got big as saucers. Very very noticable HP gain. Love it love it love it!

Perfect Fit

Bought this system for a 2000 Ford Excursion with a V10. Was worked about noise over stock, because my days of loud exhaust are over. Was very happy. It is only slightly louder than stock with A sound that the engine is breathing. Stock sounds like the motor is suffocating. It was an easy install, for me, as I have a lift. I went stainless because it is only slightly more than aluminized.You are buying this system for a crisp sound and a clean look. No mileage or performance gains...moving a 7500 pound vehicle I would not expect a car back system to make any noticeable difference on his type of vehicle.Gibson was the only system I could find as it seems all others have been discontinued for the V10. Amazon had free shipping and a price under $400. How can you go wrong. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get that ugly stock muffler and tailpipe off their Excursion.

2000 Excursion V10 Gibson SS Exhaust

First off the SS System was cheaper than the aluminized! Awesome deal! The package arrived in great shape and all of the hardware and instructions were in place. I installed the system by myself in 3 hrs w/o difficulty, which includes taking off the old exhaust. The only issue I had was breaking one of the clamps that came w/ the kit but that was easily fixed with a better made replacement from the parts store for a few bucks. All around it is a solid, easily installed kit that provides a nice set up for the Ford V10. I had a hard time finding feedback on exhausts for an Excursion and am glad I choose the Gibson Kit. It sounds great for a V10 IMO as most of the people have had some complaints about the exhaust note of the 6.8L. Not me though, you do need to realize it is not a V8 and the kit will make the exhaust slightly louder than stock. This is a performance cat-back kit that won't hurt the wallet and will provide you with that good old feeling of I'm glad I decided to purchase this. The in cab drone is minimal and only occurs around 1500-1750 rpm or around 50-55 mph with my Excursion. The kids said the exhaust does not bother them or distract them at all in the third row seat. Gibson has a name for providing exhaust on the quieter side and that is what I wanted and what I received from them. Don't think that this kit is short on performance because this kit is not. Great throttle response, sound and look. Thanks to Amazon and Gibson for a great deal!

Gibson SS Exhaust

Sounds good. Deep and low while not too loud. For the first couple hundred miles sounded like a fart can but once it got broke in it developed into a nice tone. No drone at all. The reasons it got 4 instead of 5 stars is that it was not a bolt on install. Yes I did install it myself at first, but HAD to have it welded together because of leaks and fitment issues. The tip is impossible to keep aligned without being welded. The rear hanger will squeak unless the entire exhaust system is welded to keep it from sliding back. The Y pipes were not bent correctly and had to be forced/bent into position. Also, my tip arrived with a dent in it.So. 4/5 for after it's all said and done. 1/5 for fitment, only because it was for the right truck.

Just the Right Amount of Sound.

This catback system is very easy to install. I installed it on my 2002GMC Yukon XL SLT. It not extremely loud, but definately is better than having the stock exhaust. Makes me want to push the pedal to the floor sometimes. As you give the vehicle more gas, this exhaust gets louder. Over time the tone of the exhaust has gotten louder, or will get louder. I like to cruise at lower rpms so i could listen to exhaust. It seems louder at times at the lower RPM. I can follow instructions pretty well so it was a breeze to install. When it comes to having the ends level or right, it would be best to have a friend assist u while u tighten the hangers. You will want to cut the old muffler and pipe out, to save a lot of time.(sawzall) or a reciprocating saw. This particular catback system will sound louder on a Dodge Ram Than any other truck, i dont know why but it is what it is. If u want a super loud exhaust, dont buy this one. If u want a distinct lounder tone, and not a lot of cabin drone, without worrying if u can tow and gain better performance for your vehicle, buy this one.

Great Exhaust

Installed the exhaust on my 2002 Suburban with 200k miles on it before our vacation. The gas savings on the 1200 mile trip paid the difference over the stock replacement. Nice sound but not too loud. Overall I am very impressed!

Gibson exaust tip

This is the second tip I have installed on my trucks. The first one was still on the truck when I sold it. It was eight years old and still looked great. This Gibson tip looks just as good as the old one and I am sure I'll get many years out of it. It sure makes the truck look good.
