Product Description

Keeping your engine and transmission in the right temperature range is critical, and B&M's Hi-Tek cooling system can help you do it. Each unit works equally well as either an engine oil or transmission fluid cooler, so add it into the system that concerns you the most, or get two to cover them both. The cooler is constructed using a fin and plate design with a black finish, and includes 1/2 NPT fittings and a thermal switch that turns on the electric fan at 175 degrees Fahrenheit. The 9-1/2 inch diameter 12 volt fan has built in mounting brackets for easy attachment to the cooler, and is rated at 500 CFM at 6 amps.

5Hi Tek Cooling system

Nice piece of kit. Well made and will probably carry out its intended duty very well in a relatively compact space. Temperature switch can be used or replaced with a modulating type controller from Spal [about $70 including all wiring] or a wiring harness if using the built in switch [about $30]. Either way, you will need a separate wiring harness, fuse and relay.Amazon should note that the packing was not up to scratch and the tmeperature switch was slightly damaged. The unit was simply plonked in a box and sent off without any transit packing to help absorb the inevitable shocks. Otherwise good service. I immediately wrote to Amazon about this but no response to date. Not sure if the unit was packed this way in the factory of later on ex-works.Good deal overall.Fred R

5B&M super cooler

outstanding! My 07=2500hd 6.o tansmittion was running 190 degress plus towing my camper. Put this cooler on and it ran at 162 degrees with the a/c on all the time with driving in 90 degree heat. I am really thinking about putting another one on the engine for more cooling. Great product!

5Keeping it cool

Installed on a 2000 Astro after a transmission rebuild. I load up my van quite a bit. Held temperatures from 115 to 150 f in sunny s. cali. AC on. Do not believe the tranny will overheat in these conditons. Great product. ***caution***don't stare at it too long, hypnotizing! Nicely constructed cooler.

5Bypass for Dodge Ram

There are two transmission coolers on my Dodge Ram diesel. The water cooled one sprung a leak. Fortunately the transmission was not contaminated by engine coolant, nor the engine with transmission fluid. Salt had also taken a toll on the cooling lines. The leaking cooler had a price tag of $1000.00 and the total price at Cochran Dodge came to almost $3000.00, parts and labor. After doing some research on the problem, I decided to bypass the faulty cooler with the B&M which I mounted to the fuel tank heat shield and replaced the cooling lines with transmission cooling hose. By the way, the cooling lines I replaced were part steel and part hose. The metal parts of the lines were in terrible condition but the hose parts were fine so I'm not concerned about having all hose between the cooler in front of the radiator and the B&M cooler mounted on the heat shield and the transmission. It took almost 25 feet of cooler hose. Very pleased with the B&M cooler! Thanks, Sandy's lesser half

HAVE A 2002 BUICK REGAL, WHEN COLD VERY SMOUTH SHIFT HOWEVER WHEN HOT IT CLUNKS AS IT SHIFTED.THIS COOLER HELPED THE SHIFT PROBLUM. HOWEVER I ALSO INSTALLED A FAN TO MAKE SURE IT STAYED AS COOL AS POSIBLE. IN FL. THE TEMP. NEVER GET TO THE ZERO STAGE.SO HEAT IS THE TRAN. WORSE ENAMY

4Easy to install

Item was easy to install. Comes with MOST of the needed hardware (plus some extra). I did have to purchase some extra hoses since the hose that came with it was not long enough. I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that I needed some more hose.Tip: There is not "input" and "output" connection. They can be used interchangeably. I was able to confirm this with the company. If you decide to call the company - be prepared for a VERY long hold time. I was on hold for over an hour.

4B&M 70264 SuperCooler Automatic Transmission Cooler

I installed this on my 97 Ford Explorer 4x4.Although it seems to be operating just fine, the kit did not come with all the parts needed.I had to purchase more hose (not much of an expense) but the main expense was in having to purchase fittings to make it work.The stock compression fitting on the SUV did not fit into the one(s) provided in the kit.The threads would have worked, but there was a non-threaded extension on the compression fitting on the stock transmission lines that did not allow for it to thread.Had there been a longer throw on the adapters provided in the kit it would have been fine I think.For sure, I would recommend having a vehicle handy to run for parts before disassembling anything.The solution ended up being several adapters going from the stock compression fittings to brass pipe fittings (to compensate for the long throw) back to the compression fittings on the new unit (not cheap). The pipe fittings were machine turned and a little pricey. The main piece(s) I had to use were 2 Air Line Hose Fittings - Solid Brass Hose Barb Type - 3/8 MNPT. (don't forget to put Teflon tape on the pipe fitting threads)Also because I bypassed the stock radiator, I had to buy some threaded plugs to plug the holes where the transmission lines originally went into the radiator, (they were a couple of bucks a piece).If not for the fact I had a leak between the engine coolant and the stock trans cooler I don't think I would have had to plug them, but for a couple of bucks it may be a good idea regardless.I had to go to a couple of parts stores to find the parts I needed, but in the end I found them all at NAPA.I had to bring in the parts that came with the kit, and just go through the drawers of fittings until I found a combo that worked.If not for that long throw on the stock fitting, and the fact I had to "combo up" several parts to make it work, it would not have been a big deal, but it was a pain, and 20+ bucks in extra parts.All in all, I am happy with the end result, but not having to dig through dozens of part bins, and forking out another chunk of cash for a palm full of parts that could have very easily been supplied in the kit.I mounted the unit in front of the radiator and was able to bolt it directly to a metal cross member (providing plenty of clearance) using some self tapping screws (not provided either) but it was easier than drilling holes and using the bolts provided in the kit.I am happier with this set up than I would have been using the zip ties provided, and I really think it was just as easy. 5Firmer shifts, help your trans live longer

The B&M Shift Improver kit is a great product (actually 2 in 1 since it has 2 possible setups), it comes with all the parts necessary to modify the shift speed and firmness (in won't modify the shift points), and to augment the pump pressure output in your trans. This particular kit is aimed at the E4OD transmission found in many Ford trucks from 1989 to 1997, in my case this kit was installed in the E4OD found on my 1993 Bronco. If this is your first time messing with a transmission then this is your kit, detailed step by step intructions will help you all the way, and it isn't as involved as some other kits in the market. Regarding the quality, it's top notch (even though the supplied drill bit broke), the springs are beefy and strong compared to the stock ones you'll find in there, and there is a new cork pan gasket which is very nice (not my favorite kind, but it worked great and it hasn't the slightest hint of a leak).The installation will require some time and attention, but it can be done easily and with mostly regular tools, if the trans is out of the truck I recommend doing the pump spring modification, if not, then you'll have to do the resistor mod (this is a "either one or the other" deal, don't do both). Personally I have refrained from doing the resistor mod, but might do it in the future. Since you have to take the trans pan down I would advice adding a drain plug kit if you don't own one already, these are a couple of examples: B&M 80250 Automatic Transmission Universal Drain Plug Kit Dorman HELP! 65128 Transmission Drain Plug Kit. If like me your objective is to improve the life expectancy of your trans, the addition a cooler will also help you archieve this (heat is the #1 cause of transmission failures), I also went with B&M and installed this one B&M 70268 SuperCooler Automatic Transmission Cooler. If you want further help with the installation of both the cooler and the shift kit, enter this search in your fav search engine and you will find a pictorial ellaborated by me: "Ford (89 - 97 E4OD) B&M Trans Cooler and Shift Improver Kit install (No resistor)".The results? well, now my transmission has firm, crisp and quite fast shifts for all gears, which reduce the clutch discs wear by reducing unnecessary slippage, which in turn also reduces heat. I went with the Stage 1 which is a little softer, this left me with a firmness you can clearly perceive, but without being uncomfortable, all in all you will like this product very much.

I put a set of these on my'90 c1500 about 8 years ago. Also added a 2"hanger to give me a 6" drop. The ride is very close to factory not too rough. I can still haul a decent load in the bed. That is witht he addition of a notched frame, otherwise with these and hangers you will bottom out. My driver side spring failed (lost about 1") in standing height after about 7years and so i recently replaced the spring. So longevity is not the best especially since i have put less than 20k miles on them in 7years
