5Excellent fuel pump assembly for the money
By coloredcoat
This Bosch fuel pump assembly sells for the same price as the knock off brand replacement from the auto parts stores. I've driven close to 50k miles on this new pump, and never had the slightest problem. It fits perfect, fuel level sender works perfectly, and I expect it will last the rest of the life of the vehicle. The first pump lasted 212k miles, so this one ought to take the car to half a million miles no problem.

5!~!
By Better Properties Solutions
Dropped the gas tank,, cleaned out the small amount of gas (as I used up most of the gas before installng -a must !)Getting into the tank is not easy at all. Big plastic ring on top has to be counter clockwise turned with a huge huge pipe pliers. Do not use a hammer and screwdriver or a bar as the plastic ring will break -takes muscles!! Uh huh!!Laaaarge Pipe pliers have to be used!!After getting the 5-6 inch plastic ring on the gas tank top off-- wires and tubes exist,,the wires exact positions have to be noted- strongly suggest a cell phone camera or camera be used to note the wiring positions yes, up and under wiring has to be done!!Trying to re install the wiring straight- does not work!! As per factory -exact Loops and all !! BEFORE OPENING the tank!! Or its murder getting the tank back in place as nothing is left not even 1/16 of an inch of slack or opening in reinstalling the tank.!!.Tubes are not easy at all! Usually 3-4 tubes exist to unhook. Use a red fingernail polish once on the tubes from the tank and once on the main tube going to the engine. Usually 4 tubes exist ,,the center 2 tubes can not be mixed ,tube position has to be correct!! Mark one of the inner tubes in red BEFORE disconnecting and one in white chalk or polish BEFORE DISCONNECTING or the car will not run!!Example:White on the short line about 4-6 inches ) and white on the tube to engine BEFORE DISCONNECTING!! Mark in same color Both of that tube only ends!!AND WORSE--- the clamps on the tube ends are a mine field.!!Usually have to be replaced once taken off,,,taking off is incredible- very small screw driver helps ,have new clamps (8) (one for each hose as the hoses have a metal tube inside them)When lifting the pump out ,note its position !!! Gas will run out -IMMEDIATELY TAKE A PAPER TOWEL CLEAN THE DIRT OUT OF THE TANK OR -- THE MUD WILL CLOG THE NEW PUMP~! i USED A 1/2 ROLL OF PAPER TOWELS! AFTER CLEANING put new pump in, be sure float is on and in proper position ,,,free to float ! !!Hose from fuel tank to fueling door has to be replaced,,and sometimes a small vent tube has to be rehooked up!Put new fuel in -small amount check for leaks ,,then turn key on in ignition switch 3- 4 times for 10 seconds at at time -do not start car!! Check for leaks as system is now pressurized!! If a leak exists ,,what ever you do--- disconnect the battery!!First!!~!~A must!! Then and only then -fix the leak ,, remember the top 5 inch ring has to be turned real tight ,,wiring has to be exact as per factory, tubes have to have at least an inch of metal tubing or plastic to reclamp on.Bosch makes a superior fuel pump far , better than factory ! Pump life is usually 75 to 120 k miles. After all this --- get a pro to install or help is the factory deliberately made this a nightmare for home owners!!Do not pour the old gas on the ground or dirt as it contaminates wells or aquifers, for miles !! If desperate - pour on an open road to evaporate!! Gas can be reused if filtered 2- 3 times with bed sheets, fine screens,, in a clean container!!Smokers ,you smoke while doing this ---remember gas is all over your arms ,,hands, soaked in--you will burn to a terrible death!! No Ifs!!NO smoking No smoking for 20 feet no smoking -period is best!!Once human flesh ignites-- you are fuel!!Done for-Gonezo!!ONCE pump tubes are hooked up,,,electrical lines reinstalled as per photo ITS a 2 person job to lift the tank back in as the tanks are designed not to allow a single person to lift up!! Its up ,,go to an angle, push in,, realign, push in at another angle, push back . then up and now-forward to engine end!! With the wires attached unless you want to remove the wiring leaving the car lifeless,,, the attached wiring is murder-to simply install the tank --TAKES 2 PEOPLE!~!2 !! At least with Chrysler products,, Fords,Most of GM and European cars!!2 people!!! Yes do you get it ?? 2 people !! Even in a garage on a lift! 2!! Best wishes -go with the pro is best if you can!!
