Product Description

All CURT hitches feature WeatherTite construction, which prevents rusting from the inside out by sealing the main body of the hitch. The receiver tube has an open back end to allow for easy cleaning and for dirt and moisture to pass through and not get trapped as is common with other brands of hitches. All CURT hitches come with mounting hardware and installation instructions. CURT is the only hitch company in the industry that mechanically de-scales all of our hitches before applying a thick powder coat finish, which is baked on for a high-gloss, smooth surface. CURT trailer hitches are simply the most attractive, most durable and toughest hitch on the market.

5Simple Install
By Michael Isaacson
Really a straight forward install. Undo two bolts, peel off a couple stickers, secure with 4 bolts. the printed instructions were nice and clear. It can be a little tricky to get the bolt that's right over the muffler on. You can do the install with one person, but having someone help lift the mount into place would be recommended. The manufacture's label on the pipe is quite small and dark so it doesn't broadcast to the world what brand you have, making for a cleaner looking install. The included ball mount tongue was a nice touch, but I got one with a longer one to better clear the spare tire. (I am going to keep the included tongue for a different sized, but rarely used, ball.) Also, the included pin clip is a pain to insert back into the pin, but I just got another pin and clip for $1.50 while I was getting the longer ball mount tongue.

2Damaged Twice!
By D. Dupere
When I first ordered this product, it arrived promptly with no significant damage to the packaging. When I tried to install it on my vehicle however, it did not fit. I contacted Curt Manufacturing and they suggested that it was bent in shipping. I contacted Amazon and they replaced it immediately. The new box arrived with the receiver portion of the hitch sticking out of the side of the box by about 6 inches. This portion of the hitch did not appear damaged. I did some measurements and decided that this one would fit. In the process of installing it, I discovered that this one too had been damaged in shipping (apparently to a previous customer) and someone had merely bent it back into shape and shipped it out to me. This was obvious due to the tool marks and the 2 x 5 inch portion of the hitch where the powder coating had been cracked off (down to the metal). I decided to use the hitch anyway since I had no packaging to return the hitch again. But in order to do so, I had to purchase some spray paint to cover the bare metal myself. Why any U.S. manufacturer would be so cavalier about its reputation through such shoddy packaging and replacements is beyond me.

5Perfect fit!
By da perfesser
I've seen some pretty ugly-looking trailer hitches, and some that were just downright unsafe. This is neither! It arrived in undamaged packing without a scratch or blemish. Absolutely perfect paint! The hardest part I had in the whole installation was the cleaning out of the old weldnut threads on the vehicle frame, but that's definitely not the hitch's fault. I ended up making a thread-cleaning tap by grinding some grooves in one of the old bolts that held on the factory tow bracket, but I got it done with no blood (and very few bad words. :) )This is by no means the first hitch I've installed, but the actual installation was about as easy as anything I've ever done on a car! It fit right in place perfectly, just like it was made for it (which it was!) Four bolts later it was on. Just like that! But you have to make darned sure that you clean the threads out before you suspend that big clumsy piece of steel over your head!! Having a 10-year old kid beside me to hold it up would have helped position it for the first couple of bolts, but that's the only way it could have been easier! It hangs just below the bumper facia, and it looks good. A Class III with a 2" tube would have been a bit much (as well as exceeding my car's towing capacity), but I'm really pleased with this Class II rig. BTW - it was installed on a 2010 Toyota RAV4.
