Product Description

Hawk’s SuperDuty Ferro-Carbon material is engineered for severe-duty professional truck fleets and trucks and SUVs towing heavy loads. This material offers unmatched braking performance under high inertia and repetitive braking applications. To drive safely with heavy payloads it is critical to have brakes that operate properly. Heavy fleet trucks and light trucks and SUVs carrying heavy tow loads experience high braking temperatures. Higher temperatures contribute to premature brake pad and rotor wear. Hawk Performance’s SuperDuty product is a sophisticated material that has an extremely high coefficient of friction designed to provide maximum truck and SUV stopping power with excellent high temperature heat dissipation. Upgrade your fleet or tow vehicle’s braking performance with Hawk Performance’s SuperDuty, Sever-Duty compound. Recommended for professional fleets (greater than 1 ton) and light trucks towing excessive payloads.

52002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD - nice upgrade
By JOHN LAMBERT
With right at 200k miles on the odometer it was time for new brakes. The rotors didn't really show significant wear, so I just swapped in new pads. I've had them on the truck for a few days now, and they are pretty impressive. Under normal driving conditions they perform just like the stock pads, and grab really well under heavy braking. I haven't towed anything yet, but I bet that's where these pads will really shine.I have the Hawk red pads on my Z06 Corvette as well, and noticed something about how they react that is consistent on the truck as well. The initial "bite" as you step onto the pedal (normal driving) is almost identical to the stock pads; not touchy, but not soft. Then, as you hold the brake pedal constant the pads begin to stop better. The braking performance acts like you're slightly pushing the pedal more as you slow down, but this is an effect of the pad's stopping power increasing, not the pedal movement. It's not disconcerting or annoying at all. It's more perceivable in the 3000lb car than the 6000lb truck, but it does occur on both vehicles. Also of note, I got on the brakes pretty hard in the truck just to try out the new pads and actually locked up the front right tire briefly. The ABS kicked in pretty quick and stopped the shenanigans, but I was impressed that these new pads could clamp down so well. I have 305/70R16 (32x12.5) tires on the truck, so that's a lot of contact patch! So, for the money and the results, I have to say I'm very happy with these pads on my truck so far. I'll try to update the review after I tow something heavy enough to judge their performance there. I have heard they really shine in that situation (forums, etc.), but I want to see for myself before I write it down in the review.
