Product Description

The SGM-2X Professional Shotgun Microphone System is designed for both the Pro-Sound and Broadcast markets. The microphone comes with two barrels making it either an omni (8.11" long) or, by adding the extension barrel, a supercardioid (15.75" long). Either configuration provides a sensitive, low-noise, wide bandwidth signal through its balanced, low-impedanced XLR output. The SGM-2X comes complete with a unique, integrated shock-mount with both camera shoe-mount and mic stand-mount and two foam windscreens. The microphone is powered by a single, not included, "AAA" battery (no Phanton Power), which lasts more than 250 hours.

4Great Versitle Mic
By Jeremy
I've used this a few times for short films, and it's worked great for me.I love the ability to switch the barrels to go from Omni to Directional recording.Sound quality is great, in a blind test I am unable to tell this mic apart from a Rode shotgun we also use.The included shock mount, windscreen, and carrying case are okay, and they get the job done, but aren't awesome. I figure those things are just icing on the cake.Update 03-05-2012: I've had this mic for over a year and have used it hundreds of times in shotgun and omni configuration, every time I use it I am always impressed with the audio quality. In omni configuration it's great for recording narration or voice-overs, and I have recorded hundreds of paragraphs with it.Note that if you want to connect this mic to a video camera that does not have XLR inputs, you will probably need a pre-amp to bring the mic-level up to line level. I've used the ART USB Dual Pre 2 Channel Preamp and the TASCAM DR-40 Channel Portable Digital Recorder with great success.

5Maybe looks a little expensive....
By Paden Bigelow, Salt Lake City, Utah
So, I thought i wouldn't want to drop 200 bones on a microphone so initially i purchased a shotgun for around $60 and with a mixer it sounded pretty good. But with my films now getting some financial backing i purchased this mic and i have been blown away with it's quality! the sound build and value are way worth more than $200 and after viewing my film in a movie theater with surround sound, (Just the premiere, not a full blown box office)the dialogue passed quality test with flying colors... highly recommended! i just picked up a second!

5good choice
By clobrda
I bought this as cheaper alternative to Senheiser and it was a good choice. so far no issues, works well and I didn't yet find any difference between this mic and my previous Senheiser. One thing - in the item description they didn't say it comes with shotgun windscreen, so I ordered one separately. Now I have two and have spent unnecessary US$ 30.
