Fantastic for my low power FM

I bought this to process the audio for my low power FM. I had been carrying a talk show from a network which carried the news at the top of the hour. The news was very low volume. Then, after the news, the network commercial would come on and would be a great deal louder. So I asked around to some different audio technicians and this was one of the units that were recommended. I bought it and have been using it 24/7 with no problems. It took me a while of tickering and reading up on it (I bought mine used, so it had no manual, however I was able to locate one online as a pdf file), but I finally got the settings how I want them and I couldn't be happier with it. I take audio from different satellite networks and they tend to have different levels with each one. This unit smooths out the differences quite well and eliminates the shock of fluctuating audio levels. I love it.

When podcasting I was having a huge issue when people would laugh or just start talking louder and the sound would start to distort. I start recording at a lower volume from the mixer, but when increasing the volume in editing it would just increase the white noise. The MDX4600 has been a god send to resolve these issues. When the peak limiter is properly configured loud voices sound louder but never hit that wall that sends them to distortion and I get no background noise when the threshold is set.The only issue I had was being a complete audio newbie I had no idea what any of the knobs meant and the instructions didn't help too much. It took a lot of trial and error before I got the settings right, but once I did everything sounds richer and cleaner.

Great gate for drums, out of the box ease of use, For the $$$ can't beat it. I like my drums natural NO MUFFLING the sound man is now happy with working with me a pain in the ass drummer...........
