Product Description
AEM Short Ram intake systems are an economical alternative to our Cold Air systems and deliver performance, value and ease of installation over any other short inlet intake. Our Short Ram intakes install easily under the hood and cost less because we use less material to manufacture them. During the development process, we found certain applications respond favorably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer Cold Air designs. For these applications (denoted in the search results page), we offer a Short Ram system only. We perform extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment, which allows our Short Ram systems to achieve the lowest inlet temperatures possible. Please refer to our temperature testing procedures for more information.

Good intake, great price

Most intakes are pretty similar these days, if you buy from a major brand and get the paper-style filter like this one has.About 5HP, and a lovely growl when you're on the gas (and a spectacular roar in VTEC if you're buying this particular one for a 5th Gen Prelude). Quite as a mouse when you're just putting around -- my friend has an adage: 'Intakes are for you, exhausts are for everyone else.'Why short-ram instead of a full cold air intake? I'm afraid of sucking water in when you have to drive through particularly deep puddles in low cars... But mainly because you'll actually check the condition of your filter.If you put that thing in the wheelwell, you won't remove the bumper all the time to look at it -- be realistic.With this particular installation, the battery will act as a heat shield, and keep the temps near ambient at the filter element. I checked with an infrared thermometer after runs at an autocross.

I don't have much knowledge about cars, but this was very easy to install. And it makes your car sound very nice when hitting the higher RPMs. People say this can give your cars more miles per gallon, but I don't think it does. Anyways, great mod part!
