1Works, but needs more gain. Volume is way to low.
By Thomas H. Kim
I previously had experience with Precision Interface Electronics (PIE) from purchasing an AUX input adapter for my 2002 Honda Civic, which worked great on that vehicle.I recently purchased a 2007 Toyota Tacoma and expected my $80+ purchase of this TOY03-AUX PIE adapter to work just as it did on my Honda. Wrong. After installation, I noticed the volume level of the device I was connecting to (Delphi SkyFi 2 XM Radio)was totally unacceptable. I would have the turn the volume of my factory radio to near maximum to listen to my XM radio. Turning up the volume also meant hearing more of the electronic hiss from either or both the XM radio and the factory head unit. I tried my portable MP3 player as well as other devices and had the same result. After a few weeks of frustration, I exchanged the PIE AUX adapter for the same thing, thinking (hoping) it was defective. With optimism, I took apart the dash of my new truck once more to replace the adapter, and double checking my connections. Guess what? Same result. Ugh!With the lousy sound quality I'm getting through the PIE AUX adapter, I don't even listen to my XM radio too much anymore. I've been thinking about cancelling my XM service now because of the lack of use.I've know of other AUX input adatpers. One made by USA-SPEC and the other by Blitzsafe. I would recommend you try these before purchasing the PIE adapter because the PIE adapter is no good. Learn from my mistake.

4Works Well Enough
By Bob857
I put this in my 2008 Toyota Tacoma. It was an easy installation, just pull the head unit plug it in, route some wires, stick it out of the way and reinstall the factory radio. The volume is less than the radio, but not so bad to make it a deal killer. I listen to an MP3 player (8GB Creative Zen Photo) with a volume control so I can't say how an XM would do. I have a Profile 65W amp, a Kenwood KSC SW-10 Subwoofer and JL Audio VR525-CSi component speakers. The sound is awesome!

5Terrific
By Jack E. Davis
I have a 2006 Matrix with a standard radio and single CD player. The local audio shop said I wouldn't be able to install an auxiliary input myself, that it would take him at least two hours and he'd been in the business for 26 years. His price was $214. I installed the PIE TOYO3-AUx2 in an hour and fifteen minutes and that included installing the dash-mount input cable. Works beautifully. Push the CD button twice, and the auxiliary input is activated. I can control the volume of my MP3 player at the radio or the player. My only complaint it the product description on Amazon is too vague. These geeks need to hire liberal arts majors to write their copy to communicate with the lay public (that would be everyone except the geeks). The convertor is not ready for a 3.5mm audio cable (the male-to-male that runs from your MP3 ear plug to the auxiliary input in the dash). You need an RCA-to-3.5mm splitter (that's two RCA cables (like the male red ones and white ones in the back of your flat screen or your VCR) to a female 3.5mm). I bought the PAC Isimple Dash Mount 3.5mm kit, and it included everything I needed to complete the installation.
