52002 Miata Mass Air Sensor
By Modjeskan
This part was the exact replacement for my 2002 Miata. It took less than 10 min. from start to finish. All you need is a screwdriver and 10mm socket. The hardest part was removing the electrical connection. You need to raise the retainer tab or just pull hard. Unclip the air filter box and loosen the band clamp on the rubber air duct going across the front of the engine. Remove the two bolts on the side and pull and wiggle the thing out of the air box. It has a rubber seal that may need some soapy spray to ease removal. I sprayed the seal with a little 409 cleaner. Once it's out, remove that round rubber seal, clean it and put it on the new one. Spray with a little soapy water and shove it back in the air box. Replace the two bolts and tighten. Replace the air filter if it needs it and reset the air box over the filter and fold up and snap up the two retaining clips. Put the rubber duct back on the front and snug up the band clamp. Put the electrical clip back on and start it up. Good luck. don't break that electrical clip taking it off. Ask someone, the dealer, or an auto parts store how to disconnect that clip. It has a little catch on it so it doesn't slip off.
