Product Description

Hawk’s SuperDuty Ferro-Carbon material is engineered for severe-duty professional truck fleets and trucks and SUVs towing heavy loads. This material offers unmatched braking performance under high inertia and repetitive braking applications. To drive safely with heavy payloads it is critical to have brakes that operate properly. Heavy fleet trucks and light trucks and SUVs carrying heavy tow loads experience high braking temperatures. Higher temperatures contribute to premature brake pad and rotor wear. Hawk Performance’s SuperDuty product is a sophisticated material that has an extremely high coefficient of friction designed to provide maximum truck and SUV stopping power with excellent high temperature heat dissipation. Upgrade your fleet or tow vehicle’s braking performance with Hawk Performance’s SuperDuty, Sever-Duty compound. Recommended for professional fleets (greater than 1 ton) and light trucks towing excessive payloads.

5Excellent pads
By WaterBoy
Installed on my 2003 work van. Better than anything I previously installed. Much less dust than the ceramics I did have. I did install new rotors as well. Stops great. No fading. No squealing.

4Good pads...too bad they don't make them for the G80 rear end
By Nitrousbird
I have had these pads on the front of my '02 Avalanche for a little over a year.Compared to factory and the low-priced aftermarket stuff, these pads are noticably better with no other modifications to the braking system. Firmer pedal and stops better. Brake dust isn't bad either. I do have three complaints about these pads / Hawk:#1: Squeak under light braking. Off the brakes or on them hard and not a peep.#2: Most 02-06 Avalanche owners either have the Z71 package (4WD) or Z66 package (2WD). Both of these packages come with G80 locker rear end with dual piston calipers. The problem - Hawk doesn't sell the SuperDuty pad for those calipers. That's a deal breaker if you are replacing all four pads. The funny thing is most buyers that buy base model vehicles usually aren't the type that are going to spend the money on pads like these.#3: Hawk's customer service. I am doing the GMT900 brake upgrade and doing pads all around (among a bunch of other brake related things). Hawk's website, through figuring out what they option, thinks all 2002 2WD Avalanches are Z66 optioned and all 4WD Avalanches are non-Z71...even though most of the 4WD trucks are Z71 optioned. So I e-mail Hawk trying to see if there is an alternative pad I can use. No response after a couple of days. I then try calling multiple times (4ish on a Wednesday) and still no call back after leaving a message. It is obvious they don't care about getting my businessIt sucks, as I wanted to go with these pads again. The fact my internet searches have turned up no part number for the rear pads + lack of customer support, I have now placed an order for EBC Yellow Stuff pads all around.

4Noisy Hawk Pads
By AndyB
I've had Hawk pads before so I expected a lot when I got these for my Avalanche. Avalanches are somewhat notorious for stopping poorly, at least around my area. They didn't quite fit when I installed them; they were extremely tight in the slides. I actually ended up trimming some of the backing plate off to make them slide in easier. After I finally got them installed, the stopping performance was just so-so. Improved from my previous setup, but not by much. Although I haven't bedded them in yet, which should help. They squeal incessantly. Cruising with no brakes, they squeal. On braking, they squeal. Even with the windows up you can hear it. My previous Hawk pads squealed on light braking, but that was it. If I had to do it over again, I would buy a nicer pad, maybe something ceramic, and have a quiet ride.
