Product Description

ACT designs their kits and components for a high standard of performance. Every design has been evaluated for benefits and tradeoffs -- clamp load, friction, pedal feel, working range, and other characteristics are carefully tested and assessed. ACT offers the best combination to achieve the maximum performance. This kit includes the release bearing, pilot bearing, alignment tool, a Heavy Duty pressure plate, and a Performance Street disc. The Heavy Duty pressure plate increases clamp load 20-50%, with a stock to moderate pedal feel that makes it a good choice for both street and race use, and features a unique single diaphragm design that maintains the proper pressure plate geometry to provide a smooth and precise feel that is positive and firm, extends clutch life, and increases clamp load. The Performance Organic Street style disc uses a premium organic friction material for high heat tolerance, quick recovery, good friction, and long life, while the linings are backed with steel for extremely high burst strength, and the center section resists failure even under harsh conditions.

580k Miles and Still Strong
By Jacob
I drive fairly spiritedly. I don't dump the clutch often at any kind of higher RPM, though I do drive very assertively. I'm never trying to burn rubber and lose traction, though the few times I've done it, the clutch felt solid as a rock. That being said, I've loved this clutch. Moderate engine performance mods I/H/E plus intake manifold and some headwork, probably 40hp over stock. It's harder to drive smoothly than the OEM (obviously), but has a very good (solid) feel to it.This is in a 1992 Honda Accord EX 2.2l 5spd. It feels just as sturdy now, 80,000 miles later than it did the day I installed it. I don't know if it is worth the $$$ for it, but I do definitely prefer the feel of it over stock! I've never been afraid to teach people how to drive for fear of burning this clutch up, it doesn't like extensive feathering and stalls easily if you aren't assertive.I do not think that the stock clutch hydraulics are powerful enough in that era Accord if you drive and keep the clutch engaged for long periods of time (i.e. hold clutch pedal down instead of shifting to neutral, or lots of stop/go traffic), and I should have upgraded my master/slave cylinder at some point. After holding the pedal down for a minute, the engagement point feels spongy, as if the hydraulics have lost pressure. I've replaced both master and slave to make sure no internal leaks, but with generic ones I found online for cheap. Could be the problem.
