The Airaid Intake Systems use the latest dyno-proven techniques and innovative design to improve upon intake system efficiency and deliver greater horsepower output. Their unique inlet and track filter combination is substantially less restrictive when compared to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) type air-boxes, improving airflow by up to 20 percent. A mandrel-bent inlet tube, powder-coated inside and out, is also included to deliver greater airflow and protection against any harsh elements. These systems take advantage of computer-aided design to isolate engine heat away from the air intake for maximum torque and power. The system uses the stock air filter location to insure cool outside air, but enhances air flow with a huge air inlet and 360 degree SynthaFlow filter for maximum air flow and filtration. This results in a cool, dense air charge which means more horsepower and torque. These systems are easy to install with basic hand tools.

Incredible!

I bought this for my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I was a little nervous about it because Amazon says that it WON'T fit the 98 Cherokee Sport. I punched in the item number on Summitracing however and they said it would not only fit, but was DESIGNED for it. They were right. I ordered it through Amazon to take advantage of the free shipping, and the cost may have been a few dollars lower. Shipping was fast, tracking was accurate which was nice. Very easy install, all the tiny pieces were very carefully wrapped and sorted and it wasnt short any nuts or bolts as can usually happen. You will need a flathead screwdriver, a small Allen wrench, a small phillips screwdriver, a small boxwrench. Upon taking it for a spin, i noticed immediate throttle difference in lower rpm, smoother idles, and a little more pull throughout my neighborhood. Taking it on the main road though, I was pleased to note that my 0-60 time was cut in half, and instead of the fuzzy 4liter sound the stock filter has, this has an almost ungodly roar that sounds more like the 6liter SRT8s. :-) That in itself was worth it. Definitely adds some hp and even with open throttle the rpms are surprisingly low and the Jeep takes off like a rocket. I expect a decent increase in mpg based on the new efficiency and hp. Thanks for reading, and if you are afraid to get this for your Jeep, do it anyways. It is definitely worth it!

I was able to install this intake in about 15 minutes max with standard tools. It fits fine under the hood. The first two things I noticed were how the engine was no longer struggling (RPM's about 500 lower) and of course most of the "whining" of the inline 6 was gone, replaced by a low rumble under throttle and just a better over all sound while driving normal.Acceleration, especially from 0-60 is greatly improved, and on the highway cruising is a little smoother and again the engine is not working as hard. There seems to be some increase in MPG, but I have not made actual calculations yet. I am estimating about 1 MPG increase, unfortunately I don't drive very far to work (3 miles) and it is all city driving so highway driving may be more...I would recommend this for anyone with a Cherokee 4.0.

Easy to install. Fit 1999 Jeep Cherokee perfectly. Seems to provide a little more power and a little better sound.
