Built for the (02-05) Subaru WRX... Most stock flywheels are heavy cast iron parts designed for optimum street driveability by soaking up some of the power from the engine and putting it in storage in the form of inertia. Although this may be important for transporting the groceries, this driveability comes at the expense of engine response and acceleration. Light weight flywheels keep less inertia in storage but the lighter rotating mass provides significantly improved engine response and acceleration characteristics. Until now most aftermarket flywheels for sport compact vehicles presented certain undesirable concessions to the user. Many are too light or fragile for the application, others have reliability issues and all are very expensive.Finally, ACT offers exactly what performance enthusiasts need: all the benefits of a premium quality light weight flywheel at an affordable price.ACT currently manufactures XACT flywheels in two versions, ProLite for road racing applications and very quick throttle response, and slightly heavier StreetLite for street and drag racing vehicles which may require more inertia. For example, the Integra ProLite weighs 8.8lbs and the Integra StreetLite weighs 12.5lbs. Both ProLite and StreetLite flywheels are precision made from Chrome-moly forgings and feature an induction hardened integral ring gear. All ProLite and StreetLite flywheels are CNC machined, heat treated for strength and precision balanced. Substantial material is left behind the clutch surface area for better heat dissipation and durability while weight savings is made where it matters the most for reduced inertia.XACT flywheels are certified by ACT to meet SFI Spec. 1.1. Great product and price

The OEM WRX flywheel cost more and weighs more. With this I get better response and save some money. As with any lightweight flywheel there will be a little off throttle chatter but it can be dealt with by just taking the car out of gear on deceleration

Installed this myself with the Exedy KSB03 in my Saab 9-2x 2.0 turbo. The OEM had deep grooves from the worn out clutch, so I'm glad I decided to order it when I bought the clutch. Performs like new--if not better. I love driving my saabaru again.

Good deal for a lightweight flywheel

Bought it for $266 directly from Amazon (which was cheaper than a OEM replacement from Subaru) along with an Exedy clutch (KSB03) for my 04 WRX. It's a good alternative to OEM replacement. At 13.9lbs, it's heavy enough for daily street driving without stalling out every time you try to take off from a stop light... given you are not using a racing clutch. I've had it installed with the new clutch for 2 weeks, and so far the set-up seems to be working good. I do feel a small difference versus the stock flywheel when starting from a complete stop namely just a tad less smooth, but not anything that someone used to driving a stick will take more than a couple of laps around the block to adjust. At the same time it does feel like there's less effort (VERY minor difference) required to rev up thanks to a 40% weight reduction.
